As its name suggests the Singapura is a cat breed originating from the streets of Singapore. The breed is available in two distinctive coats; either a sepia ticked coat, or a dark brown color – both of which are native to South East Asia. With a short coat the Singapura is small but muscular, is endowed with captivating eyes, an average tail length, and tiny feet.

Personality
The Singapura is an intelligent, extroverted and curious breed that is often described as ‘pesky’ due to their incessant need to follow their owners around, seeing what they are up to, and helping with everything. This is a trait they carry with them throughout their lives and even into their twilight years.
They are generally quiet and make soft gentle noises when they do speak. For areas with strict restrictions on roaming cats the Singapura is perfect as it has no need to explore the world outside to any extent, and is perfectly content to remain indoors.
Did You Know?
Singapura kittens are so tiny that many people unfamiliar with the breed often think there is something wrong with them because they are so small. Even full grown Singapuras are diminutive, with their full size of seven to eight pounds being reached at about two years.
They are one of the rarest cats in the world, and are also recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records as the smallest cat breed.
The Singapura is known in Singapore as the ‘Kuchinta’, which translates to ‘cat of love’. A well-deserved title given that their favorite place to perch is on your shoulder as you go about your daily activities.
Caring for Your Singapura Cat
Caring for your Sinagpura is easy with a simple and quick grooming performed on a weekly basis, trimming of the nails when required, and cleaning of the ears when needed.
Due to their size the safest place for a Singapura is indoors to protect them from cars, and diseases through contact with other animals.

I would LOVE a Singapura friend of my own but Dad says 8 permanent residents in enough * sigh *

Their peskiness sounds a lot like a pug. Never out of sight!
Pesky, huh? Followin’ your peeps around and seein’ what they’re up to is considered to be pesky? Hmmm… I do that all the time. I call it ‘supervising.’

I’ve never seen one in real life, only on TV. They were really adorable, though 🙂
What a beautiful breed of cat. I’ve only seen a Singapura twice, but was so enamored that I remember both quite clearly!
My human loves Singapuras – they are very dainty but they have loads of personality.
This is really interesting. We hadn’t heard of this breed before at all! Now you’ve given us something to read up on further.
