Raw Meow Mix formulas explained
Raw Meow Mix for cats is designed to support all ages and health needs, making balanced raw feeding simpler. Each formula is mixed with boneless muscle meat in the right ratio to create a complete, nutritious meal.
- Adult Mix – adult cats: Balanced for everyday feeding, this mix provides essential vitamins, minerals, and organs when combined with meat. It’s the one we use in our cat’s raw feeding rotation.
- Kitten Mix – growing kittens: With higher calcium and phosphorus levels, this supports strong bone and muscle development in kittens up to 12 months. It’s also suitable for pregnant and nursing queens.
- Low Mix – special dietary needs: A gentler option with reduced protein, low phosphorus, and sodium – ideal for senior cats or those needing kidney support while staying on a raw diet.
- Hypoallergenic Mix – sensitive cats: Made without common triggers like egg and green lipped mussel, this formula is ideal for food sensitivities or elimination diets. Pair it with a single novel protein (like kangaroo) to create a simple, balanced raw meal.
What we love about Raw Meow Mix
There’s lots of things that make this raw meal completer a stand out, but here are the things most important to us.
High quality standards
Raw Meow Mix is made in Australia using human grade ingredients. It’s produced under strict quality standards, with a focus on ingredient transparency. This means you’re not guessing what’s in your cat’s food – you know exactly what you’re feeding.
Pure, natural ingredients
Raw Meow Mix contains a carefully selected blend of nutrient dense, species appropriate ingredients, including:
- Freeze dried chicken liver (some mixes use lamb or kangaroo liver)
- Egg yolk
- Green lipped mussel powder
- Calcium carbonate (as a bone replacement)
- Taurine
- Essential vitamins and minerals.
Just as important is what’s not in it: no grains, no fillers, no additives, no flow agents, and no thickeners. This clean ingredient list makes it a great option for cats with sensitive stomachs or food intolerances, since it avoids unnecessary ingredients that can trigger flare ups.
AAFCO compliant
All Raw Meow Mix formulas meet AAFCO nutrient guidelines when used as directed. As long as you use boneless meat and follow the instructions, you’re providing complete and balanced nutrition – no extra supplements or organs required.
Sample sizes available
Not sure if your cat will eat it? Raw Meow offers sample packs so you can test it out before committing to a full bag. Each sample provides enough premix for a few meals – ideal for introducing it slowly or seeing how picky eaters respond.
Additional raw feeding options
Alongside the Raw Meow Mix meal completers, the company also offers a variety of ready made raw feeding options. Their balanced, complete freeze dried raw meals only need water added – no prep, no fuss. For cat parents in Perth, Western Australia, they also provide frozen, pre-portioned complete raw meals ready to thaw and serve. You’ll also find a great selection of freeze dried raw treats and toppers, plus a range of supplements to support joint health, digestion and overall wellbeing.
Our experience with Raw Meow
One thing we wanted to share in this Raw Meow Mix review is what the transition actually looked like in a real home with real (and sometimes fussy) cats.
Like most raw feeders know, transitioning to a new food can come with its challenges, and our switch to Raw Meow was no different. Charlie was the first to dive in – no surprise to us, he loves his food. Ava and Max on the other hand, took a little longer to adjust.
We followed a slow transition, mixing small amounts of Raw Meow Mix with their usual raw meals. At first, they simply gave their food a few suspicious sniffs and walked away. The new smell, slightly different texture, and unfamiliar taste threw them off. But we kept going, increasing the amount little by little and adding a few tasty toppers to tempt them.
After about three weeks, everyone was eating it happily and without hesitation. These days, they absolutely love their raw meals with Raw Meow Mix. So much in fact, that in our house when we’re doing raw prep, we have to ban the cats from the kitchen. Although, we do let them lick the bowls when we’re done.
Tip: If your cat turns up their nose at a new raw food, don’t give up too quickly. Small steps and patience go a long way in helping them transition.
